Taleb sees one solution for a complex system: to deflate debt instead of inflating assets. He thinks that the cause of the crisis is still there: the system is still very fragile; and it will break.
The CNBC guys were unusually bullied.

  • I don't think the squawk box people get him. I love their blank looks and weak questions. They probably don't like what he is saying, they want to argue over old policy's and obscure blips in the economy while Mr. Taleb is trying to solve for the big picture. The real sad thing is only 1,321 views (at this time) which indicates to me people don't want solve this economic problem but would rather watch videos of cats and mash up videos.

  • He's always worn suits - It's neck ties he has a problem with ;-)

  • Taleb will probably switch to Republican and vote Ron Paul... :)

  • He makes CNBC panelists nervous because if the financial system worked the way Taleb wanted it to and the way it should (boring and de-leveraged), there would be no need for CNBC, not that there's much use for it now. They rely on this broken system to pay their bills and are thus brainwashed by the damage it's causing society.

  • I am short, but hedged, just in case a black swam shows up.

  • Taleb started to wear a suit?!

Nice thinking, great, great insight into TIPS.

  • Thanks Taleb!

Been out since 13,550 and staying out...

    There is no monetary policy.

In April there were 600,000 shadow properties (80,000 in CA) who knows what it is now. (shadow=abandoned/foreclosed but not on market (visible))
