Riku Tribute - Crawling in the Dark

Note: I do not own Kingdom Hearts or the song, this video is purely fan made and the clips were gathered online

This amv is a tribute to my favorite Kingdom Hearts character, Riku. Best friend and rival of main character Sora, Riku's story throughout Kingdom hearts is one of the most intriguing storylines in the series.

In the beggining, Riku is Sora's best friend; they play together, race together, fight together, ect. However, Riku and Sora have a deep rivalry over Kairi, who they both have strong feelings towards.Desperate to escape the watery prison of Destiny Islands, and with a desire to visit other worlds, Riku allows himself to give into the darkness, which takes him to Hollow Bastion. Here Maleficent finds him, and convinces Riku that Sora has abandoned him and Kairi in favor of Donald and Goofy. Riku, heartbroken that his best friend would forget about him, and determined to rescue Kairi, Riku allows darkness to slowly consume him, to the point where he has become possessed by Ansem (Xehanort's Heartless). But, after having his physical form revealed by Sora's keyblade, Riku realizes his wrong doings, and sacrifices his heart in order to weaken Ansem and allow Sora to beat him. Riku helps Sora close the Door to Darkness, and he is locked in the dark realm with King Mickey

Riku wakes up in Castle Oblivion, where Ansem reveals to still be lurking in his heart, and as Riku fights his way to the basement of the castle, he is tempted and pushed towards darkness by Ansem, who hopes to again possess Riku. Riku finally defeats Ansem by doing something that King Mickey did not think was possible; he chooses to live in both darkness and light. He accepts that there is darkness is in his heart, and is not afraid of it; however, he uses this darkness to help the realm of light. Thus, Riku does not choose the path to light or darkness, he chooses the Way to Dawn.

Riku finds DiZ, who needs Riku's help to awaken Sora. Riku fights Roxas, and loses, but knows he must awaken his friends at all costs. He awakens the darkness in his heart, changing his physical form to Ansem's which allows him to use the power of darkness. After Sora is awakened, Riku helps Sora on his journey behind the scenes, giving him hints and clues. When kairi and sora finally find riku, riku reveals he hid from them because he was ashamed of his form and didnt know how they would react. However, his friends still love and accept him no matter what. Riku eventually changes back when Ansem the Wise's machine explodes, and together with Sora, they defeat Xemnas and Organization XIII together. Riku and Sora have a heart to heart on a dark beach soon afterwards, and are then transported back home to Destiny Islands, where Riku is now happier than ever to be.
