March 19, 2010--Joe Scarborough and NY State Senator Bill Perkins engage in a spirited charter school debate. In this reel, the Alliance incorporates crucial data to better inform the claims put forth.
1. The MAJOR problem is the current attempt to takeover of education in general by corporations, In colleges they invest more in advertising than education, and are doubling their tuitions (debt traps).
2. Money was included included in the stimulus package for charter schools that were found to work. So what's the beef?
3. The beef should be why the Republicans stripped funding for schools (along with clean energy and jobs), and now are supporting corporate ones.
Charter schools get to pick who goes to their school; regular public schools don't have that luxury.

I would have like to hear Bill Perkins' point of view more clearly.. Freedom of speech is for both parties, correct?
