A very cool 'making-of' short film featuring my favorite tenor of all time, Plácido Domingo, and my favorite female artist of all time, Sissel Kyrkjebø, together in the recording studio. The two sang both Ave Maria to the tune of the intermezzo from Mascagni's "Cavalleria Rusticana", as well as the aria "Bist du bei mir" from the lost opera "Diomedes oder die triumphierende Unschuld" by Stölzel.

The two talk about sacred songs, each other, classical music, and what it means to them. A great little featurette!

  • you have a very nice chanel and videos10**************

  • thank you so much!

you have now commented on my three favorite singers of all time! Aznavour on the "Com'è triste Venezia video" a little while ago, and Domingo and Sissel here!!!

you, too, have excellent taste :-)

  • Placido and Sissel - simply wonderful. Nothing to add nothing to take away. So sad that the director of this masterpiece died not too long after this recording. Marcello Sciotto. Rest in piece maestro!

  • yes, very sad... he was a great conductor!

  • magic, wonderful.amazing ,and all the adjectives possible to describe these two wonderful singers thanks, super !!!!!!!

  • The word "golden" popped into my head at the end of the song.

I know what Sissel meant when she said she felt like Placido was singing directly to her, out of a stadium full of people. That is one of his gifts: he "sings from the eyes," and his face tells YOU the story, even if you don't understand the words sung in another language.

She, of course, has the purest voice ever, and the two voices blended exquisitely, while the conductor and orchestra seemed to be loving it all. It. Was. Golden!
