This is not the original music from the video. I had to do an audioswap.
Derelict POW camp at Brigg near Scunthorpe.
During World War 2 a POW (Prisoner of War) Camp was built on the outskirts of Brigg. Having been built for a capacity of around 750 prisoners most of which were Italian although there were some German.
The buildings at the rear were constructed by the prisoners themselves to live in.
From 1950-1980 the site went under a different name with a different purpose. It was called 'Pingley Farm Hostel' which was a holiday site for people to come to and work on the farm itself. During this time there were modifications made to the site.
Still standing today Pingley is one of the very few POW Camps in the UK that still stands. The other most famous is Eden Camp but that is now a WW2 Museum.
The brick buildings at the front of the camp still remain in farely good condition but as you move to the back they get in worse and worse condition as you reach the buildings built by the prisoners.
Demolished during January 2009.
Where is this camp?
