Bruce Cockburn cover: Mary had a Baby

I don't know who originally wrote this song. This version is an attempt at Cockburn's version on his 1993 album Christmas. I'm playing it in open D, capo II. It's really hard to hear the guitar in the mix, so this is just guesswork. Tuning DADF*AD

I found it worked okay to just sort of play the bass notes for these chords on the 5th/6th strings over the open D ringing on the upper strings, as I've done here. You could flesh out the chords a bit if you wanted

Uh, it's not a Bruce Cockburn "cover" — it's a traditional Christmas song. It's very, very old. You can't "cover" something that's in the public domain. You just perform it.
