So using 'text language' will mean people somehow lose the ability to read documents like the constitution? Really?
Does using shorthand prevent secretaries, journalists, etc from being able to understand and write 'proper' English? No.

You are an older generation that will never understand new ideas and technologies. Even if you think you know it, you're a dolt.
This is why there are newer iterations of you to replace you. It's my generation and the generations after me.

I hate it when people text me in weird languages! No better yet, I HATE TEXTING!

i disagree texting can be easier than calling and also you go to school and you learn how to spell it correctly so in everybodys defence were not stupid and we can talk in text form and still know how to write :)

I text with full sentences that are grammatically correct. Texting is just another way of communicating nowadays. It isn't the only way we communicate. People use it as a fast way to communicate, and might be too lazy to use perfect grammar... I don't understand how texting could lead to the downfall of civilization. People will still be able to "read and write sophisticated text" even with texting. This geezer is assuming that all people talk in cryptic and succinct language through text.

hey
emails can be grammatically incorrect too.
as can IMs
and writing letters

@oddities19 Without a doubt, I believe texting is causing people to lose the ability to communicate. Instead of simply talking to one another, everything is done through texting. Ever see the movie Wall-E?... Just give it time. Eventually, that is exactly what we're going to end up like :-/

This video hurts my IQ. Do you have any idea of why 'post hoc; ergo propta hoc' is false?
Texting doesn't have to be succinct or grammatically incorrect. I text with full sentences and my grammar is correct.
