I first heard of this place when I caught part of Timothy Spall's round Britain tour in a boat. He sailed past it and mentioned it's name so I googled it and read all about it on quite a few web sites. What a shame that a it seems that it was all very nice until the mid 1920's but now just left to rot with no protection plans in place except a rumour of a conversion into flats. Never been to Scotland but if I do, I'd love to see Slains Castle. Enjoyed the video and the music. Nice one!

Bram Stoker wrote the novel 'Dracula' while staying in the Cruden Bay area. It is said that he was inspired by Slains Castle, which was still an active castle. He later built a cottage at Whinnyfold, just south of Slains. The ruins are an amazing place to visit, although the cliffs are dangerous. Wikipedia says: 'In the late 19th century, the 19th Earl of Erroll entertained many celebrities at the castle. Some believe it was Bram Stoker's inspiration for the castle of Count Dracula.'

i liked the film but its a shame ,with all the lottery funds there is,that the castle is not protected from idiots who leave beer cans and spray paint on the walls.Slains is left to rot, to become a memory.
This is all a load of shit, he lived in Transavaina NOT scotland and it was in the 14th century, he had to flee the castle because of people wanting to kill him so he went into hiding for approx 1-2 centruies. TAKE THIS VIDEO OF you fool!

@jessicafeldman0208 If you believe that he was 200 years old then it is you that is the fool!! He He!! Do you also believe he turned himself into a Bat?? He He!!
Count Dracula the Vampire was a ficticious story based on Vlad the impaler by a famous Irish writer called Bram Stoker and he wrote some of his Famous book based on this castle in Scotland!! Perhaps you have not or are not educated enough to read the words explaining this part of Real History that are clearly in the video!!
