WHERE IS YOUR MIND?
By Pastor Gene Applegate

Philippians 2:5-8 The Holy Bible, King James Version

5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: 6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: 7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: 8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

Sometimes we become very defensive when others attack us. We are tempted to think of ourselves as more important than we really are. We become defensive and try to protect our reputations.

As the children of God, we must be careful to remember that Jesus was always humble. He could have used his power and authority to destroy everyone and everything that attacked him. He was railed against, falsely accused, tempted and tormented by the devil.

He exhibited absolute power as he performed many miracles. He declared the truth, coming against the false doctrines of the scribes and Pharisees. He was betrayed by Judas and denied 3 times by His friend Peter.

He could have defended himself many times and justly so. He did not. He knew that he had a work to accomplish. Setting his personal feelings aside, he was obedient, even unto death. His sacrifice purchased our redemption, giving us eternal life.

We must learn true humility. Like Jesus, we will suffer unjustly because we identify with him. Let us be careful to keep our mind upon the work that God has called us to do. We must be faithful in our service to him.

Where is your mind? Be sure to keep it focused on the purpose and will of God for your life. Nothing else really matters. There is no room for pride or self-pity, as we serve the Lord who died for us.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, sometimes the difficulties of life overwhelms me. I forget that my personal desires can lead me astray. I want to be faithful to you and serve you well. Help me to keep my mind ...

    :-o "Thank you!" for posting . . .

And, YES, it's ALRIGHT to APOLOGIZE to people when you know that you've done something wrong. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.

He that covereth a transgression seeketh love; but he that repeateth a matter separateth very friends. Psalm 32:1; Proverbs 17:9
