WTF: Vigilante blackberry pruner?

So, yes the blackberry bush by our carport is overgrown like crazy, and yes it is an eyesore. Our excuse is that we are trying to finish the renos on the inside of the house before we deal with landscaping. Anyway, we were quite surprised to see some dude in our carport yesterday carefully cutting strips of blackberry bush and placing them in the middle of the carport. I thought about confronting him, but was too perplexed by what he was doing. 30 seconds after I ran out of space in the camera, he casually walked off down the lane. I walked out a little later to track him down but could not.

By dragging all of the clippings into the path of my car? I'm not so sure. I'm pretty sure he lives a door or two down. He could have used his or my yard waste container if he wanted to be altruistic. I've seen him once since and seen evidence of other appearances as well. The size of the later clippings was too small to be helpful, but enough to be strange. I finally got wigged out and removed the bushes in Nov. Come spring I'll be ripping out the roots.
