Vinnie's sick snare fill @ 2 and a half min mark.
Here is the fill written 3 times.
1st and 3rd are exactly the same except the first is divided into 2 sets of 3 per beat to make it easier on the eye perhaps.
The 2nd line is a different interpretation of the second half of the second beat of the lick. The sticking is the same but it might be easier for some to mentally approach it as a paradiddle. This does change the interp slightly, but it goes by so fast it would hardly be noticeable.
Having said that, I feel the actual interp might be closer a triplet from the 5th partial to the downbeat; essentially what would amount to the last 3 partials of a 9-let on beat 2.
If you can understand that, then thank your instructor and have some sympathy as to why I didn't post a triplet within a triplet on YT.
For me, two things stand out in this lick:
1) the left flam at the end of the 1st beat.
2) the accent pattern
As for 1: At first it may be strange for some to play a left tap into a left flam as it seems to make for a needless double-left; however, if you remember to count the grace note as a stroke then you'll notice we are still alternating hands.
As for 2: If you count notes (including the rest) between the accents you'll realize that we are dealing with a metric accell of sorts. 5 notes, 4 notes, then 3 notes to the last 6-let. I (heart) Vinnie
heh, cheers!
The fill (which is different then "lick") starts on beat 2 of the bar, it's based on flams over a 16th note triplet rate, there are no 32nd notes.

@aaaaaa86
lol, ya I was waiting to get called out on using "lick"... ;)
RE counts: notice I didn't write any bars. I know it starts on 2, but I didn't want to write the release then 3 counts of rests.

RE16th note triplets: 2 of the 3 examples ARE straight 16th note triplets. The reason the middle example has 32nd notes is there are clearly more than 3 strokes being played in the space of an 8th, yet the "AND-OF-3" is on the Left, and "4" is on his Right, so there are more than just flams to account for, please re-read my description as to why I posted the 32nd note option.
At tempo they sound not unlike.
What exactly is played between the "AND-OF-3" and "4"?
Diddle on the last partial?
