Arnel Pineda is the current vocalist for the band Journey, who found the Filipino singer and Steve Perry sound-alike via contest on YouTube, and former vocalist/keyboardist Gregg Rolie gives the thumbs up. He also talked about his new CD titled Five Days, which was influenced by Eric Clapton.

  • Yo...Second half??

  • @Brokered5 Eclipse album has class and the best album of Journey. Pushing boundaries and that's the mean thing. I don't a shit about Steve Perry's voice.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney JourneyEclipse Nomata LLC / By Caryn Ganz/RS June 7, 2011 Rating ** / This 2 star review says nothing about those 3 crappy songs but starts: "It takes 17 minutes & 39 seconds to hit the first satisfyingly Journey-sounding moment on Eclipse - Tantra" .....RS not like Journey music, but w/SP it says "his technical skills (those high notes!), pure tone and passionate sincerity now seem undeniable." RS 2008. Neal, the child prodigy at 15, didn't make greatest guitarist list.

  • Gregg Rolie - Class Act. Period!

  • @Brokered5 yet, the RS bosses declared that they will block any attempt of nominating arena rock 70/80s like Journey in the RnR Hall of Fame he he he. They do not like the preening softy voice of Steve Perry. Eclipse album first 3 songs City of Hope, Edge of the Moment and Chain of Love were getting good raved by RS the rests it said that Journey had never changed.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Just go with results... Steve Perry's voice has sold over 70 millions records and is listed as one of the greatest. That precipitated Journey having to go with sound-alikes.... "Augeri sounds so much like Perry you'd think Scottish cloning scientists were involved in the auditioning process." RS 12/98......"Journey believing with the Filipino Steve Perry sound-alike." RS 7/2008..... "Millions" liked "his voice in the rock band." Take care!

  • @Brokered5 it is only your imagination that Journey was hiring sound-alike. The Steve Perry fans perhaps are very desperate to get notice. Steve's voice was the dead end of San Francisco. If you love his voice but I don't like his voice in the rock band darling.

  • @newERNIEifyJourney So true, a "hired singer" turned out to be Journey. The band been in existence for over 35 years with that "hired singer" Steve Perry spending actually 9-10 years+ in the band, but his Voice and Musical Creations with the band is what defined the band. The band has had to continue on with "Steve Perry sound-alikes" unable to create any other musical legacies. "PERIOD!"

  • @Brokered5 Steve Perry was a hired singer. It's the smartest thing Journey have done. PERIOD!

  • @newERNIEifyJourney Steve Perry is the "original" on all the multiplatinum albums with the music that the band must play today so "what's 'original' got to do with it?" Steve retired in 1998 so I guess he put his "10pence per song" to good use. Take care!
