There is not one prominent university across the U.S which has anything in their Ancient Middle East curriculum about the kurds having any connection to the middle east antiquity especially the Medes. I feel sorry that Anatolians are unaware of their Hittite, Median, Hurrian, Assyrian, Greek and Roman origins. They were conquered by Turkic tribes but only a very small fragment of their population can claim to have Turkic ancestry. Turks are Central Asians such as Uzbeks, Tajiks and Uyghurs. They're related to Mongols.
