From Live Rust (1979)
------------------------------
MY MY, HEY HEY (OUT OF THE BLUE)

My my, hey hey
Rock and roll is here to stay
It's better to burn out
Than to fade away
My my, hey hey.

Out of the blue and into the black
They give you this, but you pay for that
And once you're gone, you can never come back
When you're out of the blue and into the black.

The king is gone but he's not forgotten
This is the story of a Johnny Rotten
It's better to burn out than it is to rust
The king is gone but he's not forgotten.

Hey hey, my my
Rock and roll can never die
There's more to the picture
Than meets the eye.
Hey hey, my my.

  • this album gets a lot of time on the turntable. i am convinced that Neil Young is a musical genius

  • we were that night at the Cow Palace. They gave us rustovision glasses to see the rust . 1978 our son was 6month old he is 33 now and plays Neil Young songs. He grew on Neil's music. For some reason he is into country. Neil's music had that country sound from the beginning. But I love that Crazy horse side of him.

  • @Nynthlyfe9 It says "is this the story of Johnny Rotten". Neil wrote this when punk was starting to rise to prominence, and this song is him reestablishing his place in the music industry. Punk will be remembered, but Rock and Roll will never die.

  • @johnmaylivesv whats wrong with having a record player? i have a very nice turntable and 500 plus albums.. i completely reverted back to records from cd's and mp3's you know what it sounds better to me, and if you know what you're looking for you can buy your music on the cheap if you're in the right place.

  • Neil and Kurt both made the same music.....GREAT MUSIC ,take it from me , Johnny Rotten aka:/Ledrotten ha ha ha ha ...

  • @JAZZBRO77 C'mon dude you don't REALLY still have a turntable do you?

  • @JAZZBRO77 neil young is, unquestionably, a musical genius.

  • @wizkey68 Have some fucken respect Kurt Colbain was a legend also. Kurt and Neil were both legends but in there own ways, with different types of music.

  • @Seraph909 Cobain's parents were kids when the song was written and Colbain was a spoiled drug kid

  • Idiots. It was written for JOHNNY ROTTEN.

    It's in the GD lyrics.

  • @robertross1949 Yep we got rustovision glasses and rain coats in Toronto what a great night that was.
