A short review of intermediate lesson by Swing Club @ UVA.
Diana's Notes:
Basket:
Starts like a normal swing-out, but the lead catches the follow's left hand.
Brings it to her right hip/side.
Follows, don't "round the corner," don't preempt.
Leads: Send her straight back.
Don't let go too late or it will become a turn.
Peel-out basket:
Normal basket until lead is sending her back out. Gives her a turn instead.
Involves holding on a little longer than in a normal basket, or giving a little extra force on her hip.
End opened out (follow turning out until she is stopped).
End with the follow's left hand in the lead's right hand. The follow's weight is on her left foot, the lead's weight is on his right foot.
Roll-in:
From the end of the peel-out, lead rock-steps the follow out by sending energy into her left palm through to her right shoulder.
Then, the lead turns her inside towards himself (inside turn), bringing her past his left side until she is in front of him with her weight on her right foot (on 4).
She is poised to continue forward (a lot of momentum and energy), but he redirects her motion. He sends her back around the other side, the lead rotating so that he sends her out.
