My third and final clip of Sarasate playing Sarasate. Here is the Zapateado (quality slightly worse than the other two I posted). Message me if you want Heifetz' recording of this.

  • Thank you! Where did you get a record player that would play the right speed for such an old recording? I have a 1914 of Zimbalist but can't find a machine the proper speed.

  • was on cd :)

  • WTF!!!its sarasate playing himself!!!!

  • Close the eyes and imagine to be there, in that day of 1903 or 1904 while the very famous 60 ys old Sarasate is recording, maybe in London....Which incredible luck we can hear from himself!!

  • @chrisz78 AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @Rephrat Violins are played by humans not plants. Learn English, bastard!

  • @richygm16 There's no wrong note here, but correct (as opposed to well-tempered) intonation. Musicians then were not mechanical puppets but actually LISTENED to the notes, and any violinist or singer worth his salt would have played, say, a G-flat at a VERY perceptibly different pitch than an F-sharp. Today the idiot teachers tell their students it's the same note because there's just one key for it on the piano (the first instrument that mechanized and stupidified music...)!

  • @aimson Neither! Paris, January 1905 - one look at your CD (unless it's a pirated one without proper discography notes) should have told you.

  • @HeidiHo2001 Just shop around on Ebay, there's a multitude of affordable, very sturdy DJ turntables that offer 78rpm +/- 10% or even 50% pitch control.

  • It is remarkable to hear what Sarasate himself thought the piece should sound like. He uses very little rubato unlike contemporary violinists. Perhaps the latter are influenced by Heifetz's famous recording from the 1940's. In comparison, Kreisler's interpretation of his own works sound very much like those by contemporary violinists.

Thank you very very much for uploading!

  • @johannmilstein One assumes he is playing a violin ... and not himself. Otherwise it would be disgusting...

  • @GawdOFVIOLINZ Yes, It's Sarasate, recorded in 1904 - at the age of sixty.

  • HI

    i was just wondering

    IS THIS SARASATE HIMESELF ?

cuz i know that these days we dont get to hear the original composers actually play
