Love Patti in parts of Evita, love Elaine Paige in more parts...Elaine wins.

@Rodeo6521 I figured. I was just hoping somebody would confirm what I suspected.

@co1985mn Evita's songs are meant to be shrill sounding - not pretty and melodic. The singer is just carrying out the intentions of the composer. Eva Peron was a ball buster, not a dainty flower and her songs are meant to reflect that sensibility.

@co1985mn So you nothing about acting singing or Broadway. She is beyond perfect, and brought that house down. They were not just be'n nice.

I saw Patti sing this song in concert last week. 30+ plus years later, she is still amazing. Although she has sung this song thousands of times over the years, she still gives this signature song as much emotion and energy as she did in this performance. That is a sign of a true artist. Brava, Patti!

@co1985mn What?! More like, effortless and hauntingly beautiful! Listen to Idina Menzel's version and then tell me who you think is lazy and whiny...

@hilljayne Uhmm... I agree with you on all points except Whitney. She was fantastic in her youth before she made some bad decisions. How could anyone say Whitney was never a true diva?
