@walterisbell718 wrong, my nigguh. if beethoven, miles davis, john coltrane, mozart, marcus miller, thelonious monk ALL knew theory and get better as they got older, so should u. dont rely SOLELY on your ear. your ear will eventually run out of ideas. but if you got that theory - you can take music to outer space. musicians who dont want to learn theory are either scared or fucking lazy. i promise u, my nigguh - if you study theory and learn how to speak the language, u will be a bawse.

Listen up, all you beat makin' nigguhs out there: learn how to play the keyboard, drums and base. Learn music theory. That way, you're "style" will evolve and you'll never get pigeonholed.
