Nice I have to try that.
-
Use a 55 gallon plastic barrel that has all of the fittings in it already. It will last longer.
-
just elevate the barrel directly over the shower for best pressure and connect pvc pipe directly to the shower. wrap pipe & barrel in insulation. Get the barrel higher than the shower but as low as possible. runt 800 ft of 1/2 inch pvc on roof and paint it black & terminate in barrel. find old mirrors and place them under pipe and temp will get to 150 F with 50 gallon barrel you have hot water for 20 minutes. will recharge in 30 minutes.

Nice. Have you considered running a downpipe off your building rood to take rain water to the tank? A couple of layers of fine mesh filter should get rid of most detritus before entering the tank, then maybe add another one before the faucett. If you put an overlfow pipe near the top of the tank which does a 90` bend toward the ground you can leave it connnected to the roof without fear of overflow.

Thank you for your suggestion and I will refer to it later when I get the time to work on this project again. The tank has since sprung a leak and so I have to find a better, thicker garbage can as well as reinforce the platform. My wife and I are interested in cisterns and eventually want to have ways to store our roof water.
