Houston's Lakewood Church, with over 45,000 attendees, is the nation's largest church by far. In this clip, Pastor Joel Osteen addresses the issue of eating scripturally (clean vs unclean creatures). Very interesting!!!

  • Although I agree with the merits of OT food laws for personal health preferences, I think it's odd how Joel is bringing them up in front of this protestant congregation and telling them that it honors God to observe this type of diet. Read Galatians where it talks about false teachers who try to Judaize believers into thinking that they need to follow the old law. I wonder if he will also tell his congregation to quit working on Saturdays (the true Sabbath). We are saved by the blood of Christ.

  • Are you really suggesting Galations means "true" teachers teach that eating unhealthy junk honors God?

BTW, if Joel encouraged his congregation to take a true Sabbath rest, couldn't doing so help them remember the finished work of Creation [Genesis 2:1-3] and the finished work of Redemption where Christ did indeed shed His blood to save us [John 19:30]?

  • I am amazed to hear Joel actually speaking the truth, and commend him for telling the people what they clearly don't want to hear. But shame on the people booing the word of God, what are they doing in a church in the first place?

  • Food is something that has to do a LOT with our lives. We eat everyday, three times a day... I think food is a very relevant topic to all of us, food is extremely important in the life of any individual. We should consider what God has to say about food.

  • Meat was available for us because of the flood in Noah's time, destroying the vegetation. Now that it's back, we shouldn't eat meat, but I am not judging anybody. It's just advice. And with the meat in the days we are living in today, mad cow disease, foot and mouth etc, why would people want to eat meat. Let get back to the Garden of Eden and eat naturally the best we can.

Amen to God and God bless everyone

  • Way to go Joel. Locusts... Those aren't bugs, they are pods from a locust tree, equivalent to a bean. At any rate, God does know what is right for us health-wise, as everything else in our life too. This is still the upbeat stuff, because it helps us clear our minds, and our hearts for God, which in turn leads to spiritual and personal success

  • From the August 2006 series entitled "Healthy Living."

  • If we use the bible for nutrition, we'll end up eating locusts. I would prefer Joel to stick to the upbeat stuff about life and relationships.
