whatever one may think of Russia, they certainly have one of the most beautiful musical traditions on the planet. So stirring and colorful--I love listening to everybody from Glinka (here) to Stravinsky--and wish for a vodka tonic and blini while doing so!! Spossiva friends!!

@SilentSepia and then there's that tiny problem of the American goverment/NATO surrounding Russia with military bases. The whole "great game" and the conquest of Eurasia. Come together? LOL. Only under American bullying or military conquest will the two nations be bonded. How about. Everyone stops invading each other! That sounds better to me. Then we can see about coming together.

@Vostorgina01 They'll probably never be voted out. It's a plutocracy with limited democracy being practiced, much like most other countries today. The difference, for example, of an Iranian election and an American election is thus: in an American election no matter who gets voted in they will do exactly what the previous administraion did, and will most likely break every promise they made to get elected. An Iranian election, by contrast, would actually cause a change in that country.

I am not the biggest fan of Putin or Medvedev, but anyone is better than Yeltsin.

To speak of Holy Russia, the government should alloy more religious freedom = otherwise this song would not reflect the current reality which does not go far enough in terms of religious freedoms.

@RoyalSnowbird There's PLENTY of religious freedom. Cults and sectarians are subject to legal sanctions, yes, but NOT Orthodox, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, Lutherans, and Roman Catholics. C'mon... JWs, Mormons, and Pentecostalists aren't religions... they're cults.
