Just got done doin this for the first time, it took right at 40 minutes on one 100mm wheel. I used a non-cotton car polish cloth so rim surface woulndt be a fuzzy mess. The popcicle stick was fair but safe.I used Goo-gone and i rubbed it down pretty good and let it set for a minute. I focus on doing sections between spoke holes at a time. Rub hard with the wet part of the rag (I wrapped the wet rag over pointer or middle finger),then rub even harder with a dry part.

Acetone seems to have zero effect on the old glue on my rims... (Vittoria Mastic glue), and sandpaper (180) is very tedious. Agree with the comment from another poster that this seems more like a 4-8 hour job than 30-45minutes...
Not that I'm really sure if it matters that there is a bit of old glue left on the rim. I've given up and started to add new glue for a new pair of tubulars.

Can you reuse the tubular tire still after you removed it

I got my 303 rim clean enough (it still has residue and it did take a good 4-5 hours of concentrated work) - I had to use goof-off to soften the glue and then had to scrape the glue into little piles with a razor blade that I could then start to lift/remove. I then used the scotch-brite pad which worked a little better than cloth. Tthe pad left a bunch of blue strands on the residue area and holes of the rim. Maybe the person prior to me used too much glue - but its Tufo Tape for me!

Unless, I'm doing something drastically different than what's described in this video. This is NOT a 30-45 minute task. This is more like 4-8 hours of heavy, heavy elbow grease with Acetone or Goof-off to get any semblence of a clean surface. Goof-off seems to be better than acetone. I'm going to try a rougher pad than a cloth. I get the impression - that Zipp quoted less time to not negatively impact tubular rim sales! I spent an hour with little success.
Yes, as long as the tire, tread and base tape are still in good shape (no tears or pealing). Check the side walls and valve stem too before going through the effort of re-gluing them.
