Rach3 - Martha Argerich

Martha Argerich plays her legendary Rach3. In my opinion the best recording of Rach3 ever. Extremely rare but poor footage, my jewel.

Still, I believe David Helfgott can transmit more passion.
But it's great to see someone else play such a hard work at this level.

I don't know technically if Horowitz was better, but I know Argerich makes my hair stand on end. Her passion is unparalleled.

What orchestra and conductor is this please? Is that a young Chailly?

It is a shame that these great performances of the past were not recorded in optimal quality, with the hi-fidelity we have today. These things are lost to the past. I would have loved to have seen her live in her prime. She was very close to Cziffra in speed. I think she was a better all around pianist though.

Moreover, the pianist's tone is conditioned by the recording itself(all the microphones, the pre-amps...) and also the quality of the video.
