Forgotten Faces is a video documentary project that raises awareness of and celebrates the minority ethnic groups of the West Indies. Many people are unaware of the existence of populations of Jamaicans and Haitians of white European, Chinese, East Indian, and Middle Eastern descent, living in Jamaica and Haiti. These ethnic groups are diminishing in the West Indies, but have played very important roles in the history of these countries and their culture. People interviewed are from diverse backgrounds, including: celebrity, middle class, those with political goals, those who wish to affect their country in massive ways, and those who simply want to live their lives in the country they love. General reactions to white Jamaicans and white Haitians range from amazement to shock and disbelief, and, even to hostility. These reactions are followed by questions: Who are these people? How did they get here? What is their "story"? How do other Jamaicans and Haitians feel about them? Forgotten Faces addresses these questions.

some of these minority groups have experienced racism and discrimination from both their governments and the general populace. Many of these incidents have gone unreported and have, in some cases, been renumbered in the history books of Jamaica, Haiti, and the United States. These people have a story to tell about their hardships and about their accomplishments.

  • My dads dads dad was a Germaican, my aunty sounds identical in every way to that lady.

  • @boboshantist odds are your aunt is related in some way to the women in this doc being that there are so few families of German background in the country.

  • @ForgottenFaces001 Ya my grandfather was biracial if you look at the side of their mouth it kind of droops, that was a distinct feature my grandfather had.

  • @Angeldelight1970 sorry you feel i was attempting to critique your critique i agree with your post minus the feeling that i was attempting alienation or that i misinterpreting the Jamaican people

  • @ForgottenFaces001 David I think you are a person who cannot take constructive criticism....you chose to critizise me re; freedom of speech. You do not know me, or the work I myself am involved in.....but possibly freedom of speech at one of the highest levels would spring to mind. But I sincerely do hope you manage to secure future funding and you don't have to begin asking your Youtube fan base for donations

  • @mtlsniper Guess you didn't finish 1st grade as you can't even spell LOL and you must be REALLY old if you've been calling them that for centuries.....as I said integration only began down there 60 years ago so go back to school and learn some maths LOL

  • @Angeldelight1970 and i am eager to publicize all aspects of this documentary being i am not ashamed or fearful of speaking the truth i feel that learning history and learning all sides of social issues makes us better people and i believe in freedom and freedom of speech and i do not fear people who do not hold such ideas in high regard. you may not but if that is the case you may have stumbled onto something not meant for you. thank you again for watching-David
