Match 2 of the 1981 Firestone featured the late great Earl Anthony vs. Pete Couture. It was a historical match that needed the first double roll off to decide the winner. It was a close match all the way. In Couture's critical 10th frame, a fan yelled out, and broke his concentration. Anthony could not catch any breaks leaving a stone 9 and a solid 7 in the 10th to force the tie. I hope you enjoy.

  • Chris Schenkel, while he did New York Giants football on the radio, is Mr. Bowling. He and Nelson Burton Jr. are legends. I miss watching this on Saturday Afternoons.

  • Why do they turn off the Astroline pinsetter facade lights during the tournament? They are (were) beautiful.

  • Not only were Earl Anthony and Pete Couture two of the greatest bowlers of all time they were both also great teachers and helped the other bowlers with their mental portion of the game. Don't believe me? Ask Marshal Holman.

  • Great Hair, fine glasses, and the greatest bowling suit ever. Pete Couture!!!
