Hey Shjakes, what about "Fiery" which I think came after "Gold". What I would give to hear Fiery again, the same song that Bungie brought back a couple of years ago and won the soca monarch title with. I think Maestro sang Fiery. I grew up in Angelina Street, St James when they played Gold in Ranjit Kumar Street.Des

A Real classic from a real 'Sugar Band' (as described by the late Cap'n Splav Waddell)...now if you could put your hand on their recording of 'Social Dora' I am prepared to leave you my land in Tobago! :)

Hey Guys. the arranger of this tune and their first ever tune - Social Dora-was Pelham Goddard, Exodus' current arranger. No joke, and their captain was David 'Splabs' Waddell, The best from Pelham, Des

Great post.
I'm glad I found this. The National Lottery Third Worls was formed around the time there was an upheaval in Starlift which spawned "Phase Two" and "Third World".
Pelham Goddard, who played in Starlift for a while was the arranger of this Third World gem which became very popular on the radio. You can hear the influence of Ray Holman's style in this arrangement. This was Pelham's first big succes arranging for pan.

It's about Hasley Crawford's gold medal run in the 100m race at the 1976 Olympics.
Check out Maestro's calypso "Gold". It tells the story as well as anyone can.

Was that the voice of Edison Carr at the beginning? Edison was one of the greatest voices ever in the history of Trinidad and Tobago radio! That was back in the days when you had to be able to speak properly to be a radio announcer or a DJ!!

I'm not sure, but I thought it was Alvin Daniel.

Nah, doesn't sound like Alvin to me... by the way props for posting this, one of my favorites

I stand corrected, I wasn't sure
. I've always wanted to post these two selections, but I had no video of the band and I wanted to do something appropriate, as these tunes are also a couple of my all time favorites..
This band seems to have been one of those shooting stars in pan that shine for a while and then fade.
I don't know much about them except that they were an offshoot of the old Invaders, like Phase II and Starlift.
Any additional bio of this band will be apppreciated.
