This is my Final blow board. I love this game for it's 2 player action but hate the computer as it's too hard sometimes.

Watch this flaming turd of failure on my attempt.

  • This game was ported to the Genesis under the guise of being "Buster" Douglas Boxing. I think the genesis got the basics down of what this game was in the arcades. Back there there really was a big gap in what a home console was capable of compared to the arcade boards of the past.

  • @fr33ko Yes, big gap. Except for the mighty Neo Geo since the games weren't ports but actual arcade games.

  • @SupremeJudge Remember though that the games themselves for a Neo-Geo cost what an entire Genesis system did back then. They were also just as big as a genesis iirc. I almost don't count the Neo-Geo though when it comes to consoles as it clearly had little following at best. I also dont recall there being a boxing game at all on that system either. It would have blown away anything else at the time for boxing games if one was ever done.

  • @fr33ko There actually is a boxing game on the system but it was modeled after an anime so it was horrible. The Neo Geo actually had a good following but not a deep one since most would only buy the system and the "cheap" games.

  • Clearly, this is the same game as James Douglas boxing on the Genesis. Amazing how much more detailed this is, since it's 2 years older. The Genesis really didn't bring the arcade experience home, did it?

  • Final Blow came out for the Megadrive and was an ok port of course it was slower, not as detailed and the sound was weird. Ya Genesis failed to bring the arcade home but they were just following suite against the NES. SNK was able to do it since they made arcade games and wanted to make a home system.

There are a lot of games based on anime that are great. Ashita no Joe is a great series and a classic from the 70s. The Ashita no Joe game on the NeoGeo however, I'll have to agree that it's pretty bad. But not generalize please.

  • @SupremeJudge Didn't the console cost about 700 US dollars back then? People complain about the PS3's launch price, but at least the PS3 could do more with that price. You have Internet Access, You have CD/DVD/Blu-Ray playback. You can use Netflix on it. You could use it as a computer at one point until Sony did something stupid and eliminated the Other OS option. It also had...HAD backwards compatibility until...again...Sony was stupid and took it out to eliminate the RARE "Yellow light" error.

  • It's also too bad he couldn't beat Kim Nang four times.

  • It's also too bad he couldn't beat the G-damn Korean comet.

  • @Soukyugurentai

But arcade cabinets are pretty big...they probably cost like thousands of bucks each.

  • @RocMegamanX

    It depends on the game.

  • @Soukyugurentai

Too bad that all FM-Towns games are in Japanese. :(

  • Aren't arcade boards expensive? O_o

  • @SupremeJudge
