Given that Irish state schools teach you all Irish for years and years, and indeed have been doing so since independence, what 90 years ago --- why do so many people comment "I wish I could speak my own language?" Something must have gone seriously wrong. Cad e?
tir gan teanga tir gan anam. the Irish need their language. it is their identity. given that my ancestors were Irish, i feel like it's my identity as well, and am learning it now so i can raise my kid to speak it. if Gaeilge dies, then the blood of Ireland's martyrs and 800 years of Irish struggle will have been for nought.
