Love it - I'm learning Japanese with my son, taking online classes. Your class is a wonderful addition because it's "real" versus "book" Japanese, explaining situational usage. Also, big kudos to you - being expressive to a webcam is VERY difficult and you do it well. domo arigato gozaimasu for your work and gambatte!

This actually helps me tie together some of the things that smartFM core lessons are teaching me. And for me, every bit of knowledge counts.
Thanks man! b(^v^)d

so because of "shine", "shi" is unlucky. lol :))

lol suzushii is for saying "cool" in weather term. so ex: asa ban wa daibu suzushiku natte kita-it is now cool in the mornings and evenings
as you can see "suzushii" is talking about weather
also in your situation if you wanna call a woman "cool" its would be kakoii, of course it depends on the situation and context. usally males would say "sugoii na" instead of kakkoii as "kakkoii" is directed as handsome..for men.

just found your series. I'm hoping to study abroad in Japan next year and this seems a perfect way to get introduced to the language, many thanks!

I was taught that です was the copula verb. It's like an equals sign.
Boku wa Tairaa desu
I = Tyler
I'm Tyler.
Boku wa Amerikajin desu
I = American
I am an American.

lol the masu form is too polite though when you first get to japan of course u should use that but onece you get friends and warm up then u dont always have to use MASU all the time.

Thank youu! I'll definitely tell my friend about you and your vids as soon as I talk to him. :D We'll both benefit a bunchhhh. :D Ari- jyane

Intonation is important. KA is more polite.
-
Why sometimes is there a ka? for a question and sometimes there isn't? Is there certain situations where you have to use ka and where you don't?

your definition of rude is different from the japanese definition of rude. same thing vice versa, japanese people may see things that not rude but you'll see it as rude. see the cultural differances. please study more japanese beginner lessons before trying to be a teacher.

Really? What is the Japanese definition of rude and why are you better qualified to understand or explain? Right now you are JUST being a troll. In other words an ass. Ironically, rude. In a very Japanese way.
And this was made a long time ago. I'm better now.
