  • I notice you are using a Durafork. If you are looking for a MUCH better quality fork, one that won't snap tines when you catch them in the stall mat cracks, contact me through my website at the shakenfork webpage. I can make you a special price when you use them in your next video.

  • @twomblypublishing Oregon. Wow, that is a lot. Out here it seems like everything comes by the ton. We buy our hay by the ton Eastern Oregon Grass for about 210 a ton direct and they deliver off the big truck. the cost of horse keeping in oregon isn't all that bad I don't think since 2/3 of the state is high desert there is a really big span between expensive and next to nothing for cost. The closer you get to i-5 the more expensive it gets but I don't think it's ever as high as out there.

  • @TheBeautyonHorseback because here in New England we like to pay the MOST for everything we possibly can ... JK.. but it SEEMS that way!! I guess it has something to do w supply / demand and convenience... if we buy from a mill we usually have to shovel it IN to the truck ourselves too... and it's often very dusty... the bags cost about $4.50 EACH! our hay is about $7.50 a bale ( they don't even talk about "by the ton" re hay much anymore!!!) cost of living is very high here!! where are you?

  • What!? You by your shavings by the bag? Out here unless you have bunny rabbits you buy them by the ton, I think like 200 bucks a ton. Why is it so expensive up there?

  • @gibbygirl89 what a kind thing to say... thank you :) and I'm so sorry that you know what that feels like.... every creature is an individual... so we should remember to value each one's uniqueness... my buddy Jesse is a "distraction" around the barn... but he can be charming in between his insufferable and constant humor.... so I'm there for them... since they're there for me :) we all support each other horses and people alike :)

  • @gibbygirl89 God bless him... he was the best ( he passed away this Aug 5) I've had him for 29 of his 30 years... my friends were pretty sick of hearing how "perfect" he was... EVERY SINGLE time I rode him ;) I miss him a lot

  • @gibbygirl89 in small private barn that's usually the best way.. but in larger lesson/ boarding/ training stables one often cleans the stalls most efficiently by just working down the aisle whether the horse has been turned out , or is still in. in this particular care Gabriel was just hanging around... he had the option of leaving, which he took midway through the vid when I added the shavings ;) we just liked being near each other

  • Yup, this pretty much covers what we learned in your class today.

  • ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!!! that's what I've been telling all of my friends for this horse's entire life ( ha ha ha... they are so SICK of hearing ME say exactly THAT for the past 29 YEARS : ) but you are right, another option might be to tie a horse at a safe length to a safe spot with a quick release knot... or cross tie in the aisle... but I like your idea better : ) and Thank you very much for noticing Gabriel's excellent manners, I love him : )

  • Your horse is pretty perfect. I recommend for anyone else to put the horse out in the pasture or paddock while you muck
