It does indeed apply for a lifestyle change. Eating what you want, when you is the problem. In order to be successful, one has to plan and that's the problem. Eating what I want, when I want to is a plan for disaster. In order to be healthy, you have to be disciplined.
You have to ask yourself, do you want to be mediocre or do you want to be elite? You have the top 1% and the rest of world. The question is where do you want to be?

I understand what u are saying. I dont think that it applies when this is a change for lifestyle eating as opposed to just dieting. As long as you are grouping macronutrients correctly....u can eat whatever u want but I def dont think there are excuses for blowing each day or each week for that matter just to indulge in something you can reasonably incorporate into your eating plan.

There is nothing wrong with having a cheat meal. The purpose of a cheat meal is two fold:
1. Mental Boost - You have been working hard for six days straight. You have kept your carbs at .5 grams per pound of of body weight. You have not slipped up on your eating plan.
2. Metabolism - It's a scientific fact, that these meals shook the metabolism, which in turn causes the burning of more calories.

You are doing great!!
I have eaten at Taco bell since I have beeen on my journey but I don't eat the sauces or cheese unless it is the sauce on the fresco menu. While I dont eat there a lot I feel it is okay once in a while as long as it isn't overdone.
Keep up the great work!!
