I enjoy the fact that I have the strength and control to do this dance so slow that my friends ask me if I slowed it down to slo-motioin in post production. The answer is definitely no. That is me just pacing myself. I feel like I get a better workout and much less risk of pullying or straining anything like that. At the same time all the muscles have to work harder at staying in arches and plies for just that much longer. For me anyway I notice too that by doing my tricks and such so much slower, that I can workout roughly the same amount of time but I lose 1/6 to 1/4 more weight and inches when I just concentrate on taking it sloooooooooooowwwwwww. @kittenblack try it nice and slow you'll find it works the muscles a lot harder. It also lessens your chances of pulling or tearing a muscle. I was showing off for a friend last year out there and tore a muscle in my hip. I was off the pole for almost 2 weeks. A injury like that serves to remind one to stretch, stretch thoroughtly and take it slower.
