The Vancouver Observer celebrated the first print edition & the relaunch of its newly designed online News website www.vancouverobserver.com , At Ceilis Irish Pub , here in Vancouver on Tuesday Oct 6th 2009 , Hosted by the VOs Publisher & Editor in Chief Linda Solomon & Emcee Rob Cottingham of Social Signal , Coincidentally on the same day Canwest declared bankruptcy , Linda celebrated with many friends , and Sponsors & Web Site contributors , Vancouver City Councillors Ellen Woodsworth & George Chow . Andrea Reimer could not be here , as she had been unwell with the flu
Lindas website developer David Egan spoke about the new website design , Dave Beers founder of The Tyee spoke , He said , Linda has a printing press now , its called vancouverobserver.com , and we the people are the truck drivers , Canwest had got into hock to the tune of 4 billion dollars , its called convergence , its plan was to buy up all the newspapers and TV stations , he said he never liked that idea , feels it was a bad business plan and bad for democracy , it does not matter if u own a printing press now that we have the internet , Hummingbird604 spoke as well , Linda said she is not competing with the Tyee , more media , better media , more then just sound bite news is what the VO has to offer its viewers , says the VO is a boot-strap operation , The VO is independent and there is no one telling the VO what they can and can not write
VO is reporters and bloggers telling the truth , and take the risk involved
The most handsome John Tanner sings and plays the Piano and the most beautiful Rachael Chatoor of LEAGUE OF ROCK plays the guitar and sings , what a delight both of them were , Thanks to both of You !
