A short demo on the Nikon D3s 51-points 3D tracking in continuous servo AF mode (AF-C). Pretty amazing.

  • AF-C is continuous servo focus, will continuously focus but the focus point does not change, i.e. remains in the centre. 3D-tracking will allow the focus point to follow the subject, but must be accompanied with AF-C in order for it to work.

  • There is one confusing thing for me (amateur) when it comes to autofocusing systems in my D90.

I can set 3D Tracking in the menu which is meant to track the object when I reposition the camera. I can also by using AF button set the camera into AF-C mode which also should track the object. What is the difference between the two?

  • That is pretty amazing. I just bought a D3 and I can't wait until I can try out the AF :-)
