Lightroom is an incredibly powerful tool for the photographer, especially those who have many images to manage and manipulate. (Can anyone say "wedding photographer?") I recently acquired the Nik plugin collection for Lightroom , which greatly enhances Lightroom's usefulness as an editing tool.
Watch as I do some very quick edits on a shot I took at my sister's wedding. The exposure is a nighmare...horrible backlight. Viveza does a wonderful job of managing brightness, contrast and saturation where I need it, all with minimally damaging the pixels. I then opened the image up in Silver Efex Pro, converted to black and white with an orange filter and did a couple more exposure tweaks. In days gone by I would be doing this work in Photoshop with plenty of masking. Lightroom with the Nik plugins allowed me to do the work quickly and efficiently and move on to something else - a huge time saver. These edits in real time took under four minutes.
