Two men fighting were best friends. Jiguro tried to protect Balsa from a manhunt. In doing so he was forced to combat his friends from the King's Spears. This one in particular was his best friend, whose wife and daughter were held hostage by the king.

please people, stop comparing this anime to DBZ, Naruto or the likes. We're talking two entirely different types of Anime here. Moribito is based on a novel, was 26 Episodes short and had a seemingly huge budget. Naruto, DBZ and Bleach are long running Anime based on Shonen Mangas, have a normal budget and have to stall time with repetitive Animation or long staredowns to stretch one Manga Chapter at a time to a 20min Episode, to not overtake the still running manga.

Amen. I'm tired of the old dragon ball z formula where there's non stop fighting for long stretches. shows like this are x100 better than bleach or naruto, even with so few action scenes.
