This is a video of the Switch tires on Epic wheels for my Slash. I added duct tape on the inside of one tire to see the non ballooning effect. The goal is to get more contact patch to the ground for more traction.

  • my tires baloon up too like the tire on the right. my tires are out of balance too. How do you balance Slash tires?

  • I would try taking the tires off the wheel and remounting them. I found that doing so can reset the bead of tire and help with balance. I would also check the foam inserts as they may be wet in some areas which will definitely throw off the the balance. Hope this helps. If you have more questions get on the Traxxas forum website and search for your question. You should be able to find a ton of tire stuff.

  • Yea I do. Seriously!!! Maybe what your talking about is asphalt but on dirt the more tire you have on the surface the better. Do your homework!!!

    paul

  • thanks! what does this help do? wont the weight of the car push the wheels into the ground when its at high speeds?

  • pop the tire inside out before u glue it to the rim, and just tape it

  • wait how did you duck tape it?

  • use crazy glue and glue the tire to the rim in a few spots not to much so after u can break the bead if u want to change tires

  • Be serious, do you think your truck is going to get that much speed up to though the tires up?

If you look for speed, its good the tires come up, one because less surface area touching the ground equals less resistance, two, if you make it fast enough the truck will make the tires taller equaling more speed and a floating effect, but that is FAST.

It can also be good for off-roading because you nail the gas, the tires get taller, equaling more GC but loosing traction that the same time.
