The physical state of the classroom is considered in this video quilt companion to "Frieze Framed by Friezes." Words of Dean Terry, about the need for the transformation of physical learning spaces through constructing active classrooms instead of the lecture halls of the past, interact with video patches of interior space that is reconfigured and evolving as a consequence of demolition, and video patches of the demolition occuring outside on the corner where three Ann Arbor streets converge. New construction, configured as Dean Terry describes on a soundtrack that includes his voice interacting with the sounds of demolition and music by Strexx, will replace the Frieze building being demolished in this video quilt installment. Like its companion video quilt "Frieze Framed by Friezes," "Future Classroom" is built as Frieze is unbuilt. Inside angles, juxtapositions, patterns, and possibilities expand as the portion of the building remaining intact shrinks each day. Contains rare shots inside the transformation captured just days before the building was completely gone. Is an investigation of notions of containment. Also an audio quilt of sonic transformations.
