Knit a smaller tubular piece using a circular needle instead of double pointed needles.
The circular needle should be long and have a flexible cord. Cast on your number of sts and push the sts to the middle of the cord. Separate and pull out the cord in the middle of the sts. Slide sts to the needle tips each side, make sure sts don't get twisted.
Your working yarn is on the back needle and you start working the sts on your front needle. Draw out the back needle to work the front needle. When front needle is done, turn work and slide sts back to the other tip and work that side the same way. Continue in the round, make sure to always pull out the needle at the side where you have the working yarn.

  • i want to knit a very large circle that would fit around a tire.Do you have any Ideas on how I would do this?

  • We all learn differently and those who teach, teach differently as well, and this was just my easy learning. I had checked on five videos, done and redone(the yarn was getting already bored of me to death) until I came here to get it all clear. I actually went like AHA! Thanks a million, now I can have my mitten for the scarf (a gift to someone special this Friday) done on time. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for this video! I get so much more out of your videos than the ones where people jabber on and on about how to do things. Again, thanks!

  • Thank you for this video, I think I never knew how to use the magic loop correctly ;-)

  • Hi, I would like to share this useful video at my website. Thank you so much!

  • Oh wow you can knit too!!! Not me, sigh

  • I just want to say.... THANK YOU! I have a pair of needles like this and I'm trying to make sleeves for a sweater. I wasn't entirely sure how to use these needles to make the sleeves at all without ruining or stretching out the yarn. I also REALLY didn't want to have to try and purchase double pointed needles since I'm still just learning how to knit.

Again, thank you so much! =3

  • You make things really clear. How long have you been knitting? Very helpful videos.
