Simon Boccanegra, Berlin, 27. October 2009, Plácido Domingo, Harteros, Barenboim

This is a short part of the curtain calls after Simon Boccanegra in Berlin with Plácido Domingo in the title role. The premiere was a great success (more than 20 minutes of standing ovation, stomping, clapping and screaming), and so was the following performance. Domingo as "baritenor" is stunning and convincing! He proved that he CAN do it. His voice might not be a natural baritone voice - but its colours and his splendid acting added another dimension to the role. Anja Harteros as Amelia was wonderful! Tenor Fabio Sartori - well ... a good voice, but maybe not the best actor ...:-) Hanno Müller-Brachmann succeeded in his Verdi-debut! Great voice! Kwangchul Youn as Fiesco: Solid voice, but maybe not yet "heavy enough" for this part.
Daniel Barenboim and the Berliner Philharmoniker delivered wonderful music.
