As a former employee of the YMCA, I can tell you they don't care about communities. They should be considered a for profit organization. They had me doing the inhouse printing, graphics, mail and so much more. They never gave me raises and said raises were frozen everytime. YMCA is another For Profit business hiding as a Non-Profit. On top of it, I wanted to get my retirement check early and they said fine, but you can no longer work for us or any of our organizations, sign here. You decide.

I work at the YMCA in ERIE PA and I'm sure we are just as nasty!!! I work in Child Care but it really sucks how poorly some of the things are cleaned and what not. THe food is all "grant'' food so its all in a can or carton. Nothing seems to be home made or made with nutritional value. And then its a rule that all the kids must take the plate whether they want to or not, and most of them throw 2/3 of it away because they dont want it. SUch a waste.

@nolasweetness07 The only thing the YMCA cares about is making money,and to have nutritional value would cost them too much,the one in Halifax NS is just plan scummy,they let people swim in a dirty pool were the chlorine levels are way to low,one time I cleaned one of the rooms were people live,and it had rat crap in the bed,it was so bad I had to wear a mask because the smell was unreaI, I know why they didnt want people to see the things there employees see,its because the place is disgusting

Wow!! I've been a volunteer for my Y.M.C.A./Y.W.C.A. (In Hazleton, Pa.) for years now (about one year of volunteering at the front desk, a few years in there volunteer clubs, and now the president of their Teen Leaders Club) and I've worked there for two years (roughly) as a lifeguard. The Halifax area Y.M.C.A. sure is a LOT dirtier than ours!! I don't know the whole story, but they may have been scared of an inspector seeing this and shutting them down.

@FlagPoleJumper the whole story is that they fired me for putting this video on facebook, maybe your right about them fearing getting shut down because the place is a dump.the place is infested with mice,rats and bugs,I seen them all the time running around the daycare center and were the kids play,they use to tell me If I ever seen a mouse to not tell any of the members and act like I never seen it,The Halifax YMCA is beyond dysfunctional.this is the dirtiest Y in Canada by far.

By the looks of it back there I would say the air unit filters and condensation pan would be in awful shape as well. Sucking in all the nasty dirt dust pipe insulation and all the germs from the pan. People get sick from this. I bet you your self and the workers there when they started where sick when they started. And they thought it was the flu. This is why u got fired. Cause there r people who have a brain.

@GalzRox8 Thanks love :) life is cruel sometimes, and nice guys don't finish first every time,but life goes on and I have too, but I will still tell people about it,because its the right thing to do,so be careful who you have on facebook because not everyone has your best interest at heart. I find it hard to trust people now,and I'm sorry about your dad, I know what he went through.
