"Turk" is not a racial concept but a cultural concept. Main features are: Freedom, Nomadic Life, Equal rights of men and women, Love of horse riding, Hunting. The word "Turk" derives from "Törük" which means constantly evolving. Islamization of Western Turks was nothing but a political positioning. Infact Turks never converted to Islam and continued their way of shamanic life and traditions.

@TheRealKivanchK Of course they did convert to islam, but the actual process of islamization was gradual, but successful. Modern Anatolian Turks have basically nothing in common with Tuvans, but they are very similar to their non-Turkic neighbors.

@EunusRex I wonder what historical books you have been reading. The Turkish conversion to Islam occurred mainly in the 10th century, long after the arrival of Arabs and it was arranged by the Persian Sammanid dynasty. The pre-islamic Turks fought with Arabs, just as they fought with the Chinese and among themselves, but their conversion was a voluntary one.

@TheRealKivanchK Except for the prophet and his sahabah, noone served as much as Turks did for Islam. Not long after Mohammed sav. arab world collapsed unlike Turks who had the right foundation, mentality along with their Töre that was according to Islam. This eased their joining to Islam. Turks were strictly organized tough smart strong rational ingenious people whose behavior were also admired by muslims and others even when turks were not muslims back then.

@TheRealKivanchK You are mistaken. Turk is a racial and cultural concept. Moreover Turks have different mentality, culture, identity and history than persians or arabs have. So of course there will be differences in living out Islam. But the commandments and bans in religion stay the same for all. Turks indeed are purely unique muslim people . Turks rather had a deeper affection to islam, this is why the greatest sufi schoolars are turks like Yunus Emre, Haci Bektas, Ahmet Yesevi, Yusuf Has...

Normally it is nothing political, no one was or can be forced to be muslim, it is against the law of Allah. But surely in history there could be black sheeps like today, who use the Islam for personal advantages. I am for sure turk and all my family knows why they are muslim. So if you say all of turks it wouldn´t be the truth, if you say just western turks, so they are turks as well. I am not talking just for the turks, but for Islam, so people can´t make a wrong image of it.

@TheRealKivanchK Sorry but you're totally mistaken. Turks' conversion to Islam was not a superficial thing nor a "clever move". It was enforced by Arabs, through massacres, torture and enslaving. Read something about Talkan and other massacres. Also, Arab slave markets were full of Kipchak slaves until Mamluks overthrew their Ayyubid rulers. Turki is still a name in Arabic that refers to the beauty of Turkish slaves. Arabs have always seen Turks as inferior and they continue thanks to Islam.

Türkiye'de kendisine Türk diyenlerin, hele ki milliyetçilerin % 99'u Arap yalakasıdır. Arap adı taşımaktan, Arap dinine inanmaktan, Arap peygambere övgü düzmekten gurur duyarlar. Tuvalılarla bizim aramızda dil akrabalığı dışında hiçbir yakınlık yok. Acı ama gerçek. Kimse kimseyi kandırmasın.
