You can use POPLAR OR MAPLE OR PINE Do not use CEDAR/Redwood .The wire diameter shd be 0.0625 ins Ihink it is 14 ga.

what type of wire do you use or is it only wood dowels im planing on making one for my two budgies what do you recommend i use

Hi Valveone1,
That"s nice to make your own cage. Budgies tend to chew on wood so dowel rods are out . you can use gal. or stainless steel wire. bars will have to be placed horizontal as they are climbers NOT vertical. You can frame with wood 1/2 or 3/4 ins.Give them a cuttle bone to chew on

NIICCEE is this an outdoor cage?

Hi,
Thank you for watching. This cage is basically an indoor cage. However, it can be used outdoor but you cannot leave it to face the elements for days.Outdoor use would include like taking it to the parks ,. hanging on a tree, taking it to a friend"s house etc.
