In this waltz there's giant arthritic elephant dancing along with you, in the ball room (soviet Russia), for which this music was composed. (The elephant in the room, so to speak). Watch out that he doesn't step on you - and he steps on you if / when you stop similing. Count your steps ... you should be able to hear the heavy march like two step thud in the background all the way. (It is an Elephant not a Strauss !!)
Interestingly ,Shostakovich's symphonies are about as bleak as you can get and are nothing like this waltz he wrote. This version sounds more like J Last than Shostakovich. Why does'nt Rieu do a Shostakovich symphony like the 5th if he is good at the composer. Er..slight problem there I think for a singalong!!.
@cheamverdi i used to hate classic music but then i saw Andre Rieu and this hate no longer exist. So i think Andre does a great job playing the way he plays, because he is makling people become interested in classical music.
