This song has restored my faith in the Eurovision Songcontest, especially after last year's dull-as-dishwater winner Lena, with that drab song, the name of which luckily escapes me now. So, once again, it's Sweden to the rescue! This musical equivalent of a ten-ton truck racing towards you was written by the very talented Fredrik Kempe, the same man who wrote the magnificent song Hero, the 2008 winner of the Eurovision Songcontest, performed by Charlotte Perelli. Cheeckily imitating the drums from Rasputin by Boney M, this is a no-holds-barred stormer, that hopefully will be blasting out through radios all over Europe very soon. Go Sweden! ( Sorry, my fellow Dutchmen, but our entry 3J's, although not bad, is pretty bland compared to this).

  • Check out my extended remix of the winning song Running Scared by Ell and Nikki. Just click on the video message on this page to listen. That song was also written and produced in Sweden so with Eric number 3, Sweden didn't do badly at all!

  • nice, but too simple / cheesy for a real winner !

Last year`s winning song "satellite" (remember ? LOL) was quite alright; it had something special.

Big mistake this year: 1. Lena is coming back. She didn`t improve her english and rhetoric skills, so prepare for some pretty embarassing interviews 2. Her new song is the most boring piece of sh** ! I`m actually so embarassed about her and the song, that I probably won`t watch the show at all ... well - we`ll see ;-)

    (I`m german btw)

  • @SilverShamrokkk

Oh right, Satellite, that was it :)

I'm sure Lena is a nice girl, but I just totally didn't get it. She annoyed the hell out of me, and so did the song. That affected way of singing, her exaggerated pronunciation, a total lack of show, fun or glamour. I thought the whole thing was embarassing and depressing. And then she started getting all those points! I thought I was going mad ha ha. Funnily enough, I prefer her entry this year. It's odd, but less irritating.

  • Sounds Like "I Wanna Go" :P

  • Normally I hate pop songs. But for some reason, I like this song. Sweden and Georgia are my picks for winning the Songfestival. As for our own 3J... No. Just no.

  • @ShatteRChromE This song was on eurovision. It's not exactly going to be thought provoking and well written, is it? The song just has to be catchy and memorable, since some of the viewers might not even understand the words he's singing.

  • I remember when I first heard the slow version of Popular. Up until that point I had listened A LOT to the live Melodifestivalen version, which is such an energy boost, and just pure fun.

Then I found the slow studio version, where his voice is so raw and fragile. I was completely awestruck and got overwhelmed by a whole new set of emotions.

Eric's different ways of singing, and the video, all of it made me connect with the lyrics on a much deeper level than I ever could have imagined.

  • @SickRainbows917 i thniks that brithney copies ..... i wanna go Oo to this song..

  • @ShatteRChromE Hey chill out, it's just a pop song. And wanting to be more popular in school so a girl will notice you is a perfectly suitable idea for a tune by a teen singer.(although I would have preferred a song about a guy deciding to stay true to himself, rather than trying to be like everyone else to fit in. But that's another story).

  • This song makes no sense whatsoever. The lyrics just sniff monkey scrotums... What's this thing about a girly boy singing primary school crap about being popular anyways? He is just like a f4wk1ng justin bieber clone.

    -------------

    He could also sing:

I will be popular, I will be popular... oooo oooo I will grow some beard, I will grow some beard wooo hoooo grow some beard!!!

or I'd rather he or the songwriter would just shut up and man up a bit...

  • :(onej Eric så menar jag Du är bäst Eric :D
