Not much destruction was wrought on Day Three, not that could be seen from the Fisher service drive, anyway. But on Day Four, the demolition crew went to work on the scoreboard in center field. The section that they are tugging on in this video - and that starts to crumble about halfway through the video - would fall later that day. Unfortunately, we weren't there to capture it.
Demolition of one of the most storied arenas in the history of American sports is coming down. Detroit still has a chance to save a corner of The Corner! Donate whatever you can at www.savetigerstadium.org. Every little bit helps! Remember, once it's gone, it's gone forever!

Why not just implode it

Its like they tear down ballpark with non modern technology yet Fenway park and Wrigley field are old and they haven't been torn down yet then again they made bigger impacts like the ivy on wrigley field and the green monster at fenway park

i hate to see the stadium go. it's a cool looking stadium. why would they use a backhoe to knock it down? they should use a wrecking ball to knock it down. (not to be hateful)

It really sucks to see the great history of Detroit goes down the rubble and scraps! Although I've never been to the original Tiger's Stadium, I still remember passing by it many times.

The structure's foundation was crumbling and safety became an issue. It got to a point where it was going to cost far more to rehab the facility than it was worth.....sad but true.

I never made it to Tiger stadium, wish I did though. I visited Yankee Stadium this year, Shea in 04, busch in 04, and gonna try to hit the Metrodome next year. This is the one on my list that I wish I would have experienced the most.
