  • ah yes,i finally got it^^

    thank you very much:)

  • You are welcome. I am glad this was helpful.

  • This is a very, very good video! Thank you!

    I have one question.

I ordered a unused silicon wafer off ebay and I'd like to make a bipolar transistor. (Note: Just ONE! I think that ought to be possible to accomplish at home...)

Well, I don't really know how to dope the silicon so that a certain area becomes n-type and another area p-type? I read on wikipedia they do it with ion cannons. Of course I dont have one of those though lol. Are there any other ways?

  • Thank you very much for your kind comment. Doping silicon requires special equipment.

  • @douro20 ah thanks for the clarification. I kinda know what you're talking about, I had material science lectures in uni.

  • @CabalaCicero

It is showing a CVD or chemical vapor deposition process used to dope the wafer. Silicon wafers can be produced as pure (undoped), n-type, or p-type.

  • chocolate wafers

  • what the fuck did i just watch

"I think that ought to be possible at home"

    You must be kidding?!

First understand the Basics of microelectronics manufacturing.

For instance you require absolute sterile rooms (free from any dust particles) to create even a chip. Which also mean suiting up in special suits.

    Then you require various chemicals.

Then you require numerous special equipment eg Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) machinery.

Then you require special photographic equipment and chemicals.

    etc.

  • Great .. thank you :)

  • khosrow1 can you please add the steps on this process? great video anyway

  • kewl vid

  • At 1:00 what is it being sprayed on the wafer? Thanks!

  • Music sounds like Vangelis

    nice explanation btw :)
