@BBQJester No, her "breakdown" was months before this. It wasn't even a breakdown, she was just extremely tired and collapsed from exhaustion.

WOW isn't this right before her mental breakdown? There are already signs something's wrong. her voice is starting to break down, it's haywire, she's prancing on live TV close to naked... poor Mariah. but she managed to pull it through all that, look at how she glows now.

I don't understand people berating this performance. I think that you should look at it in context of what the entire country was going through at the time... just one month after a horrible tragedy had occured that affected every individual in the US in some way or another. I loved this performance... it was soft and not overdone like some I've seen. I think it was beautiful and touching and it shows courage for her to get up there and sing after what we'd all been through...
