TORNADO and Friends - GCR Gala 12/10/08

After a brilliant weekend on the KWVR, which for some reason was sparsely attended, I and my partner visited the GCR Gala, where I dicovered the reason.

Having attended the GCR for over thirty years, I have never seen such crowds of people on the trains, platforms, bridges and lineside locations as we saw on Sunday.

It proved well nigh impossible to park the car at the usual spots, like Quorn & Woodhouse and Kinchley Lane. It was also very difficult to obtain a decent view of the line - hence some of the shots, directly above the running line.

However, it proved to be a very enjoyable day out, with a picnic lunch beside the reservoir. We shall return for a ride later on when the crowds subside.
