Kansas!

For those of you who do not get the "hammer" reference at 00:19, Johnson broke his splitter and nearly wrecked when he ran over a large orange hammer during Friday's practice session. Not only was he lucky not to be injured in the incident, nor injure anyone else, nor wreck his car, Johnson wound up qualifying 2nd and, after Montoya's pole speed was thrown out, inherited the pole. I don't care what NASCAR.com says; that's LUCKY!

The hammer in question is shown in this video; note how bent it is after Johnson hit it!

  • God damn....they disallowed his speed. it would of beem very entertaning seeing him up front with johnson. now the front is just filed with boring people..johnson,kenseth.

  • Well, there is Mark Martin on the outside-pole, but yeah, it definitely stinks that Montoya couldn't get the pole. Despite some bad luck, his team's really turned it around this summer.

  • What was JPM penalized for again? I didn't understand that.

  • Apparently, the nitrogen gas pressures in Montoya's rear shocks was too high, and that gave him an unfair advantage by giving him more front downforce.

  • Never heard of that before...

  • Yeah, me neither. I'm with TimmyTickle; NASCAR must have been out to get him.

  • That paint scheme on the #21 looked eerily like the old David Pearson scheme... It sucks that we don't see more of the Wood Brothers lately; I would have loved to see Ambrose go there and stay with Ford rather than switch to Toyota with JTG. At least he'll be reunited with Ford at RPM...

  • LOL I couldn't resist; that line was the first thing I thought when I heard about the accident during qualifying.

  • OMG! The hammer! xD

  • LOL Thanks!
